A Hilton Bayfront session room was packed this morning at the 2009 Elite User Conference in San Diego for a presentation from Allen & Overy, the most recent and largest international law firm to deploy 3E for its financial management system (Read the news release) to handle the business side of their work.
Brian Dunlop, group head of finance at Allen & Overy and Helen Sheeran, senior finance manager for the firm, used their session to talk about Allen & Overy’s decision to choose 3E, how they went about deploying it and how the firm worked in partnership with Elite to customize it for their use.
Together, along with Alan Charlton from Elite, they stressed the importance of a law firm’s need to be flexible during the process to get organized for the deployment of the software. Dunlop told the group they should have a detailed plan, but they should be prepared to change it and adapt along the way.
Sheeran emphasized the need to establish clear priorities for the setup of 3E. And to be ready to skip the “nice-to-have’s and focus on what’s required in the software.”
“Allen & Overy is a very large and sophisticated firm and their implementation of 3E has gone quite well,” Steve Buege, president and CEO, Elite told me. “We are thrilled that they are here at our conference to talk about their experience and it’s a unique opportunity that our attendees should leverage.”
I talked with Sheeran, Dunlop and Charlton after their session. In this video interview, they talk about 3E’s strengths, why law firm partners can especially benefit from 3E and the partnership between A&O and Elite:
