We’re looking forward to an exciting three days learning about the latest in legal technology.

An exceptional student at the top of his law class, Amar Jain is on the right track for a successful legal career in his home country of India. It’s not just his academic achievements that make Amar out of the ordinary though. The 4th Year student stands out from his peers at Mumbai’s Government Law College because he is blind.
Rather than experience our Westlaw India legal solution the way other users do, navigating by sight using a mouse, Amar instead relies on a voice recognition program on his laptop. He ‘hears’ the information on screen and follows audio instructions to explore Westlaw’s India pages.
This gives Amar the full Westlaw experience, which he then passes on to other students and users around the country, enthusiastically promoting Westlaw India on Facebook, Twitter and via his personal website http://www.amarjain.com (which he designed himself by the way).
So others can get a glimpse of how he uses Westlaw India, Amar created this video.
Amar’s many talents, he is also an award winning public speaker and accomplished singer, with a degree in vocal classical Indian music.
On November 30, Peter Warwick, chief people officer at Thomson Reuters, took time out of his schedule in Mumbai to meet Amar.
Over coffee and cookies, Peter handed Amar, accompanied by his proud father, a certificate and a gift in appreciation of his work as a student’s council representative. An impressed Peter said: “Meeting Amar was inspiring. He really is a remarkable young man who has shown how personality, determination and intelligence, coupled with great technology, can overcome even the most challenging circumstances. His family’s support has been truly wonderful. He has a great future ahead of him.”
Pangea3 CEO David Perla was a member on the panel for Legal Process Outsourcing 2.0 at the ACC Annual Conference in Denver recently.
With the rapid growth surrounding LPOs in the legal industry, the panel addressed numerous topics and issues ranging from: how each company addresses the relationship with the LPO differently to the best way to get started and how to make it work; how LPOs keep their employees and motivate them; and that law firms will work with LPOs, but they need to be directed by the client.
As LPOs have become an accepted solution to large and small corporate legal departments, the trends discussed focused on benchmarking the service, how the process works and if the service is right for you.
In a video recap, Perla discusses the three main takeaways, current trends and what he wanted the audience to know.
Hundreds of tweets…204 written comments…10 executive listening sessions… dozens of video interviews….and 1,500 pairs of orange sunglasses. Those were the stats from the “We’re Listening @ ONESOURCE” booth, where attendees at Tax & Accounting’s ONESOURCE user conference were able to provide feedback to Thomson Reuters about our products, services and anything else on their mind.
“We’re Listening” is a program that engages clients by starting dialogues with them through both new and traditional media at customer events. The ‘We’re Listening” team of Thomson Reuters communications and social media specialists set up a booth at the ONESOURCE conference in Miami during the week of Nov 1-4 and gave attendees the opportunity to say, write and tweet their feedback throughout the event.
And they responded, giving us their thoughts on everything from the ONESOURCE platform to the conference food. Now, the feedback will be shared with executives, product teams and event planners.
Check out the video below to hear more about what some of our customers had to say about ONESOURCE and the “We’re Listening” program.
