Introducing Wait, What? A new Thomson Reuters podcast
The legal business of Thomson Reuters is excited to launch a new twice monthly podcast. Wait, What? takes an irreverent look at technology and its impact on our lives. The podcast is hosted by Matt Angelicola, government research analyst; Rob Russell, senior director in the Government segment; and Jason Thomas, manager of innovation also in the Government segment at Thomson Reuters, and produced by yours truly.
The first episode is focused on Internet activism, social media and privacy.

Very well done, if not a bit rambling — which is a good thing. One thought though, in regard to the future of social media in the hiring process, I think that you are correct that if a person is reviewing someone’s social media presence and sees something from a few months/years ago (like a drunk waving a bottle) they might ignore it, but, a computerized screening system probably would not ignore it and thus move the application to the bottom of the stack. Automated pre-screening of applications is already a norm and in the future will become more invasive and deterministic. The bottom line is that what you post can and will have an impact on your real world life.
Oh, and my first computer was a dual floppy drive CPM machine. (no hard drive).
Thanks for the podcast.
Great conversation. Looking forward to the next one.
This was awesome. I’ll be sure to tune in as often as I can. What fun! Congrats on the first episode!!
Thanks for the listen, Laura! Our next episode should be available on the 13th…Keep listening!!
Thanks Laura! Our next podcast should be available on the 13th, keep listening!!
Sounds good. Interesting. Some delivery ideas:
Make the underlying file available so people (i.e. me) can easily copy it to a flash drive and listen to this on my commute. I’m always looking for something to listen to on that daily time waster we call commuting. Listening to good stuff makes it not wasted time.
Make it shorter. (The podcast that is. But if you can make the commute shorter, that’d be swell, too.) Twenty-minute segments would be ideal. That’s the length of most sit-coms these days, not that you’re doing sit-coms, but it’s an indicator of human attention span.
Thanks Brenda!! Next one comes out on Feb 13.
Thanks Brenda! We’re really excited about the show. If you liked our first show, I think you’ll really like the second episode that we recorded yesterday.
